When Things Go Wrong: Don't Quit Recovering from Love Addiction

person feeling hopeless in recovering over love addiction hands on head

If you are a love addict and are committed to recovering from your love addiction -- you should know that your path to breaking free is not much different from what others experience.

Recovery is a bumpy road. It will at times seem like you will never get past your issues.

At times you will think, "Is my work in recovery all worth the effort?"

At times you will want to give up. You will take one step forward and several steps back one step forward again and two steps back again.

But this is how the road of recovery works.

So I want you to read this excellent quote from an insightful anonymous poet. I actually printed and laminated it and put it up on my wall during my recovery.

t puts the experience of recovering from love addiction in perspective.

It is an inspiring quote about why you should never quit; why you must endure; and why there is hope for you. I hope you find it inspiring as well.

Here it is:

When Things Go Wrong

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,

   When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

   And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

   Rest if you must, but don't quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

   As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about

   When he might have won had he stuck it out;

So don't give up, though the pace seems slow -

   For you may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than

   It seems to a faint and faltering man,

Often the struggler has given up,

   When he might have captured the victor's cup.

And he learned too late when the night slipped down,

   How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure, turned inside out--

   The silver tint of the clouds of doubt--

And you never can tell how close you are,

   It may be near when it seems afar;

So stick to the fight-- when you're hardest hit--

   It's when things seem worse that you mustn't quit!

 -- ANON --

Most of the important things in the world have been accompanied by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. For most of us, this is how success happens. And this is how recovering from love addiction happens. So you must endure, hang in there, never ever quit, and be assured hope is alive!

Now go print this and hang it on your wall!
